Version 0.4.0 released


  Neongarten is in Steam's #TurnBasedThursdayFest, starting tomorrow! I've updated the game (both on itch and the demo on Steam) in order to improve new player onboarding. The game threw too much complexity at players too quickly, and I think that made some players bounce who would have otherwise enjoyed the game.

 
  -- Buildings are no longer all available at the very start of the game. Instead, the player unlocks sets of buildings by earning enough money (a total saved across all playthroughs) or wins enough games.
  -- Only relevant perks show up at the end of each week. For instance, perks referencing Illegal buildings don't show up until you unlock Illegal buildings
  -- Added in a Library screen with information on what buildings are unlocked and what the unlock requirements are for locked buildings
  -- Added in an Unlock screen for when new buildings are unlocked.
  -- New title screen and new capsule! Woooooo
  -- The camera now shakes when a building is placed
  -- Adjusted rarity so there are more than 6 common buildings. Most parks are now common, and hydroponics is now uncommon. Also, common buildings are less likely to appear in the building selection screen.
  -- You can now change the current layer during nighttime!
  -- Misc UI improvements for ultrawides
  -- Fixed a bug that could cause a soft-lock after building selection
  -- Upgraded the Factory, Refinery, and Train Station to have a base of +2 income
  -- Upgraded the cafe to double its income for EACH set of 4 neighboring residential buildings
  -- Fixed some minor controller focus / UI bugs
  -- Escape now opens the Options menu instead of Enter, since Godot was also using that same press of Enter to click on buttons.
