Re:Seed Update, Part the Third


This is the third and final piece of the Re:Seed overhaul. The major component of this update is the introduction of Rare Seeds - seeds that need to be discovered in the mountain trails. The player is rewarded for that extra work with crops that have special powers. Some are worth tons of money, some spread growth to all adjacent plants, and others double the cash value of nearby plants. 

The rare seeds add a whole new level of strategy to plant placement. You still need to line up the proper growth arrows to the rare plants, but they bring some fun variations on the whole plant placement mechanic. I'm excited to see everything start to come together!

Other changes:

  • Removed all the tutorials! The last set of tutorials is available in-game as a sign on the farm. Curious (or forgetful) players can click on it, but nothing is forced. The hotkey management tutorial has been replaced by simply having the hotkeys associated with the top row of inventory. The tool tutorial has been replaced by help text appearing if a tool is used incorrectly.
  • New perk to increase the rate of rare seed draws.
  • Small scale bump for clickable objects and farm equipment on mouse hovered
  • Better Income Screen UI - hovering over plants or daily seed income icons gives explanations and descriptions
  • Improved seed planting UI. When a seed is planted and its growth arrows affect a neighbor, a small heart will appear over the neighbor (or a broken heart if the growth arrow is a bad match).
  • Redid farm equipment hint text as an animated scroll
